About

Welcome to Speaking of HEALTH, a blog brought to you by the Rhode Island Department of Health! We hope this blog will allow us to respond to some of your health-related concerns, get your feedback on our programs and services, provide you with timely health information, and keep you up-to-date on exciting new health initiatives in Rhode Island. This blog isn’t meant to replace our website, which contains useful information and materials for a variety of audiences. Rather, we’ll be using this space to blog about everything from flu prevention guidance to Department progress in the areas of tobacco control, drunk driving prevention, electronic prescribing, and childhood nutrition.

Rhode Islanders have the right to know what’s affecting their health and how their health department can help them lead safer and healthier lives. That’s one of the reasons we started this blog. We want to help you make informed, healthy choices that will keep you, your loved ones, and your communities safe and well. Above all, we want to help make healthy living the easy choice for all Rhode Islanders.

We also want to write about things you want to learn more about. We encourage you to use the comments section of this blog to engage with us and with each other. Please note that we review all comments before they are posted, so your comment may not appear right away on this site. While we cannot respond to every comment or question directly, they help us to understand your questions and concerns and plan for future posts.

Bookmark this page and check back often for health tips, news, and updates! For answers to specific questions, please call our Information Line at 401-222-5960 or email us.
